John J. King, MD, FACC

Serving as the owner and lead physician of North Mississippi Vascular Care, Dr. John King is a highly-lauded and award-winning interventional cardiologist.

Graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mississippi State University prior to earning his Doctor of Medicine with the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Dr. King ultimately went on to complete his residency in categorical internal medicine with the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

He later branched out to pursue his fellowships, completing the first in cardiovascular disease with Louisiana State University-Shreveport and his second in interventional cardiology with the University of Rochester.

Finally, Dr. King returned to Columbus, Mississippi, where he served with Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. He remains on the medical staff at BMH-GT since his arrival to

Columbus, MS in June of 2011. Given his compassion and commitment to quality patient care, he soon worked his way up to an esteemed position as the Chief of Staff, where he served the

full two-year term.

Today, Dr. King is board-certified in:

  • Interventional Cardiology

He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and maintains memberships in:

  • Mississippi State Medical Association
  • American Medical Association

Outside of the workplace, Dr. King is also a caring husband and father of two children. He enjoys fly fishing, reading, indulging in various sports, and cooking gourmet meals for his wife, Madelyn King.


Madelyn B. King, RN, MSN, ACNP-BC

Having amassed over 20 years of experience in the nursing field, Madelyn King is the Interventional Cardiology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for North Mississippi Vascular Care.

Madelyn completed her pre-nursing education with Mississippi State University prior to graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). She then successfully pursued her Master of Science in Nursing as an acute nurse practitioner at the same institution.

While attending UMMC, Madelyn completed hundreds of hours’ worth of experience in:

  • The Cardiac Care Intensive Care Unit (Cardiothoracic Surgery)
  • The Emergency Department at VA Hospital
  • The Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit
  • The Surgical Intensive Care Unit

Currently, Madelyn is licensed as both a registered nurse (RN) and an advanced practice registered nurse practitioner (APRN) with the Mississippi State Board of Nursing. She is also board-certified (BC) as an acute care nurse practitioner (ACNP) with the American Nurses

Credentialing Center (ANCC).

She also maintains professional memberships with the following organizations:

Prior to joining the North Mississippi Vascular Care team, Madelyn first served as a cardiology and nuclear medicine nurse practitioner with the Overton Brooks Veterans Association Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She later returned to Mississippi to work as a nurse practitioner with Columbus Cardiovascular Care-Baptist Medical Group for eight years, followed by the past two years with King and Associates Cardiology, PLLC.

When not attending to patients, Madelyn enjoys the company of her two children and husband, Dr. John King. Her hobbies include fly fishing for tarpon and redfish, crappie fishing, skeet shooting, cooking, and more.


Katie Taylor, RVS

Katie Taylor serves as the certified vascular ultrasound technician for North Mississippi Vascular Care. Having graduated from the Virginia College of Birmingham with her Associates of Applied Sciences in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, she first served her sonography externship with the Imaging Center of Columbus in Columbus, MS.

Prior to serving with our team, she offered her expertise as a sonographer for Pickens County Medical Center in Carrollton, AL, and later became a vascular sonographer for Golden Triangle Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in addition to Golden Triangle Cardiology and King and Associates Cardiology.

Today she is a certified vascular specialist, registered with Cardiovascular Credentialing International. She also participates in ongoing educational opportunities and is known for her dependability, history of excellence in patient care, and more.


Abbey Dichiara, ACNP-BC

Abbey Dichiara is a family nurse practitioner who completed her pre-nursing education at Mississippi State University. She then completed both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as her Masters of Science in Nursing at Mississippi University for Women prior to serving as a registered nurse for Centennial Medical Center (Coronary Intensive Care Unit) in Nashville, TN, and later with Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle (Critical Care Unit) in Columbus, MS.

Abbey went on to offer her care as a nurse practitioner with Stern Cardiovascular Foundation, Baptist Medical Group (Columbus Cardiovascular Care), King and Associates Cardiology and, finally, North Mississippi Vascular Care.

Today, she remains with King and Associates Cardiology and maintains the following licenses and certifications:

Brian D. Adams, FNP-C

Serving as a nurse practitioner for North Mississippi Vascular Care, Brian Adams completed both his Associate Degree in Nursing as well as his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Mississippi University for Women. He then completed his Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL.

Prior to his nursing education, Brian first served as a pharmacy technician with Medical Arts Pharmacy in Columbus, MS. He later served as a staff nurse with Biloxi Regional Medical Center in Biloxi, MS and Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. During this time, he provided patient care for the Medical-Surgical Orthopedic/Neurological Floor, emergency room, and cardiac cath lab.

Finally, prior to joining our team, Brian offered his care as a nurse practitioner with both Baptist Memorial Medical Group- Columbus Cardiovascular Care and King and Associates Cardiology.

Today, he remains with King and Associates Cardiology and maintains the following licenses and certifications:

Shelby Dahlem, RN– Clinical Director

Shelby offers her care and expertise as the registered nurse for North Mississippi Vascular Care. She first earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Mississippi University for Women prior to pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Mississippi College.

Before joining the team, Shelby worked as a nurse with Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS, providing high-quality care for a total of six years split between the emergency department and the cardiac catheterization lab.

Shelby has been with North Mississippi Vascular since day one of us opening Feb. 2022. She also remains certified in CPR, AED, and ACLS.


Aubrie Claire Shumaker, RN, BSN – She is an RN for NMVC. She was formerly a cath lab RN at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle 

Carley Hurst is our Intake Coordinator. She has been with NMVC since June 2022. She graduated high school from Caledonia High School in May 2017. She was a cheerleader at East Mississippi Community College and graduated in 2019 with an Associate’s Degree in Exercise Science. 

Charlsie Moore, BS, RCS-Charlsie is a registered echocardiogram technologist and has been since 2016. She helps with trans-esophageal echocardiograms at NMVC. 

  1. Brittney Senter RT(R), RDMS, RVT- Brittney is employed at NMVC as a radiology technologist and a vascular ultrasound technologist.

With certifications from ARDMS and ARRT, our technologist has expertise in various areas such as ultrasound, x-ray, CT, C-arm operation, and vascular technology, making them an invaluable member of our team at North MS Vascular Care and King and Associates Cardiology.
